YOUR PORTRAITS
I have always been captivated by the unbridled energy and power of horses throughout art history. From this, my main ambition is to capture that unique and distinctive character at the heart of every horse, whilst also capturing their inherent gentleness in my own way - offering a harmonious balance of strength and softness.

Frequently asked questions
How long does one portrait take you?
Typically, it depends on the size of the portrait, the colour of the horse, whether tack is included, or even how much hair they have! On average for a smaller A3 portrait, I'd say 15 hours would be my maximum. An A2 on average is usually around 20 hours. However, in my most extreme case, I have had a portrait take me up to 40 hours for the level of detail required on the tack, as well as how large and dark the horse was! I do draw each hair individually, hence the time frame.
What materials do you use for the portraits?
All of my portraits are drawn in graphite pencil. This means they are monochrome (essentially black and white). I have not started offering equine portraits in colour as I have not yet taught myself this technique! All equine portraits are drawn on Daler and Rowney smooth - heavyweight paper, which offers a clean and unblemished finish.
I am starting to offer canine portraits in colour. For this I use Conté Crayons which are essentially a combination of graphite and pastel for a soft finish. These will be on grey softgrain paper which helps the portrait to stand out of the page. These will be offered in A4 and A3.
How much time can I expect between ordering and receiving the portrait?
It is hard for me to give an exact timeline for this, especially as I juggle day to day university work and life, whilst also managing my horse too. It heavily relies on how many commissions I already have due with deadlines which will be placed as a priority over ones without. This is something I need to be understood!
I love producing these portraits, and I do my best to balance these commitments whilst also guaranteeing them before deadlines.
However, please do get in contact if you are needing a commission for a certain date as I will need plenty of warning - I am currently holding a 3 month wait list!
Do you have any contemporary pieces available?
Yes! I have plenty of both small and large scale contemporary artworks available. Most are available to view on my website, so if one captures your interest, don't hesitate to get in touch and I can provide you with a quote.
I will also be producing more throughout this coming summer which I will release as they come.
Equally, I am happy to take commissions if you have a certain idea in your head! We can work together to find a size and style that suits exactly what you are hoping for. Please get in contact as it can become an exciting project.
I am also hoping to release prints.

How can movement and power be expressed through contemporary equine art?

CONTEMPORARY ART
I've been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to experiment with varied mediums throughout my A Level journey. Within a school environment, I was encouraged to step outside my comfort zone, make mistakes, and reflect on my own work while analyzing the pieces of others. This process has been instrumental in helping me develop a personal contemporary style, one that allows me to move beyond the detailed and refined portraiture I also enjoy.

ABOUT ME
I am a 19 year old artist based on our family farm at the foot of the Quantock Hills, in the small village of Vellow in Somerset. Growing up in a rural setting, I have been fortunate enough to have adored and ridden horses my whole life, which lends itself to my passion for equine art.
I am inspired by the much loved and well known Alfred Munnings, with much of my contemporary portfolio work influenced by Jo Taylor.
I am currently studying for a degree in Business Management at the Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester, and hope to continue to fund much of my studies through my art. I am hoping this degree will help to return to the family home and bring inspiration to our plans of creating an art studio, amongst a 'Food to Fork' farm shop which is already in progress, and unique visiting location. Our aim is to bring business to our local community, and help build a message of environmental sustainability.
